Renewal Fellowship


As the Renewal Leadership Team, we have felt God leading us to follow Paul’s example in the New Testament where he engaged himself in tent making efforts in order to not place a financial burden on the church to support him. In our context we have felt lead by God to do the same. Each Team member is self-supported and serves on the team as their way of offering their Gift of Leadership back to God. Here is a little more about each one:

David Broom Snr

Dave Broom is the founder of Renewal Ministries. He has ministered around the world with his late wife Maxine in the areas of Leadership, Marriage and Family for more than 38 years. They have four children all serving the Lord in different capacities around the world. Renewal Fellowship began in their living room more than 20 years ago. Dave continues to provide input and wisdom to the running of both Renewal Ministries and Renewal Fellowship. 

Carolyn Masenda

Carolyn is a wife and mum of 3 children.  She loves God and seeks to be used by Him to make a difference in the lives of others around her. She is an economist by profession and has over 15 years of working in the banking sector in Zimbabwe.  She graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a BSc Honors’ degree in Economics and completed her MBA with National University, Fresno, California.  Carolyn and her husband Darlington have been married 20 years. They joined the Renewal Fellowship Board in 2010 and they enjoy serving on this very dynamic Team that is purposed to influence the world they live in.  Carolyn is involved with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and serves as a Board Member with the Global Leadership Summit Zimbabwe Team.

Dr David Broom

David is a Doctor of Chiropractic by trade. Born in Zimbabwe he went to Selbourne Rutledge junior school and then Eaglesvale High School. Following that He went to Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma and studied pre-med with a minor in theology. He went on to the National College of Chiropractic (now NUHS) where he completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic. After only 18 months in practice He joined the staff of Faith Center in Rockford Illinois where he met his wife Amy. There they served for 6 years and then went back into private practice. In 2010 David and Amy moved back to Zimbabwe to engage with Renewal Ministries. They live in Marlborough with their 5 Children.

Darlington K Masenda

A Zimbabwean, who truly believes that our nation is called by God to be an example and a witness to its neighbours. Darlington was born in Zambia and resettled in Zimbabwe in 1977. Darlington is an Infrastructural Developer, involved in building large service structures in Africa. Darlington was educated at University of Zimbabwe and then attended London’s School of Economics at the Kings Cross campus, to attain a Masters in International Law/Relations. Darlington is married to Carol Masenda and they have three children, Thabiso, Nyasha and Langelithe. Darlington sits on various boards related to business and Leadership. 

Amy Broom

Amy was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. She attended Christian Life School in Rockford and then Christian Life College in Mt. Prospect. Following school she worked as a Lazer Eye Surgery technician until she joined David in the ministry on staff at Faith Center. She is a home educator and devotes herself to the education and discipleship of their 5 children. In addition she serves on the Board of Renewal Ministries as well as the leadership team of Renewal Fellowship.

Unopa P Makanyanga

Unopa is a Development Practitioner by profession. Currently the Director of Nhaka Foundation, Unopa has diverse experience in training and development, community relationship building, management leadership, donor relations and strategic planning. Deeply passionate about developing capacity in young people to be Godly leaders, Unopa sits on the Board of Global Leadership Summit Zimbabwe, is a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow. Unopa is the mother of three teenage children.
